TRADUCCION DE MARINA E. ROMERO
Gracias Marina por luchar y por luchar en el bando correcto
TO THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION
I, JOSE ORTEGA ORTEGA, practicing lawyer with practice address El Puig Plaza Mariano Benlliure 21,1º 46540, Valencia, Spain, writing under my own name and right and representing the people listed on the attached document, HEREBY DECLARE:
FIRST- The undersigned have learned through the pertinent official EU publication of the process under way directed towards the signing of the treaty known as Transatlantic Trade Investment Partnership (TTIP), a treaty being presented by the European Commission as an opportunity for economic development and of significant benefit not only to Europeans but also to North Americans.
SECOND- As the European Commission should know neither cultural, social nor regulatory harmony exists between the signatories of the future treaty. Whilst Europe has succeeded in establishing a cultured society based on the principles of the welfare state and with numerous restrictions imposed on those holding public power as well as on the abusive practices of market dominant companies, the USA is a society exclusively controlled by the big companies established in its soil, where the Government represents nothing but a theatrical function bereft of any capacity for decision in particular for those decisions affecting the market and where that dismal concept known as new world order is flourishing dangerously like a carnivorous plant, a concept which the majority of citizens identify as the one world government, with one world police, one world army and one world corporation, all of it controlled not by any authority representative of the general interests but by the fierce private interests of an economic mafia propelled by a depraved avarice whose only goal is its own enrichment.
Some of the future catastrophes that will derive from the signature of this treaty are documented on the annexed article published on 29 October 2014 by David Hervás. The author refers to questions as grave as the absence of all labour legal regulations in the USA, the non-existence of instruments such as union collective agreements, the complete freedom to distribute food (to assign it a name) that has been genetically modified and, moving onto the more concrete details of this treaty, the intention to revoke all protection measures pertaining to the origin of food products, a measure that would bring about grotesque scenarios such as the possibility for the US to produce Rioja or Bordeaux wine, Roquefort or Cabrales cheese. A further concrete example highlighting the regulatory difference between the USA and Europe as it stands today is that in the former it is the consumer who has to prove that a product is toxic for human health (an affirmation that can only take place once the consumer has suffered toxic poisoning), whilst in Europe the control administration authority have the responsibility to ensure the non-toxicity of the products before they enter the market.
The outlook outlined on the article is simply alarming, announcing a social catastrophe and a generalized default on the individuals rights system in Europe derived from the contamination we are about to suffer as soon as –and as a direct consequence of the signing of the treaty– the new world order cancer and the garbage of the manipulation of the Government of the USA by the big companies begins to flow through osmosis towards the European Union, whose governmental organs cannot be said to be inmune to economic lobbying although in spite of this it still remains a place of civilization and culture with a regulatory space that allows its citizens the enjoyment of safe alimentary conditions, labour and social security guarantees and other advantages.
THIRD- Due to the facts above mentioned, the agreement that you have the intention of signing is a complete pile of rubbish and a betrayal to the real significance of the history, tradition and social and environmental achievements of this old Continent and because of this we are bound by necessity and the exercise of our free will to request that you cease meddling so we can be untouched by the rubbish you have just announced you have the intention of unleashing upon us and abstain from signing the treaty. If in spite of this request you proceed with the pursuit of this stupid idea you will be responsible for a grave degradation of life in Europe and the transformation of our land into a desolate place where we citizens will have become true slaves of the major multinational companies.
I REQUEST: you to abstain from signing the TTIP.
ADDITIONAL PETITION: the treaty with Canada known as CETA (Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement), already signed by the EU but pending ratification by the Member States Parliaments is added to the above request.
